A Love Song for Ricki Wilde: setting and emotion

Setting

Tia Williams creates setting for her novel as if it were a beautiful secondary character. She shows you the Harlem of the 1920s contrasted against that of the 2020s so beautifully it aches. Her MCs, Ricki and Ezra, walk this tightrope of tragedy and pain balanced out with joy and humor. The swoon in this romance rips the heart out and heals it at the same time.

100% Recommend!

The romantic-est romance I’ve ever read. SWOONS galore.

Pain and Joy

Study how Williams manages to strategically create scenes and events that showcase both pain and joy. Think the old couple fromTitanic - the ship is sinking and they’re about to die BUT they’ve had a long full life together.

Emotionally satisfying HEA

Ricki and Ezra get the best HEA, one that feels real and makes you appreciate the life you have. A Love Song gave me such a book hangover! For days I thought about how I’m in the midst of my own messy HEA: with my partner, my children, my family, my friends — and how finite and therefore how precious it all is.
